The Forking Fiasco of Dongle-Gate Revisited

Fork
Fork (Photo credit: @Doug88888)

I stumbled upon an article (link below) today about Social Media and how it's affected the employee/employer relationship.  It refers to an event of geeky sexual innuendo and the incident it spawned last March at a tech convention.

I was amused at the antics when said event first happened and have since coined a term for it and a nice catch phrase to describe the aftermath.  I call it "Dongle-Gate" and I have termed the chaos that ensued a "Forking Fiasco".

My Mad Dash to Collect a Stash of Toys for Needy Girls & Boys!

Not many people know that the local food bank has a Christmas toy drive.  No one really knows how many families they help each holiday season or how much joy they bring the children of these families who find themselves down on their luck!  But just because not many know doesn't mean that it is any less worthwhile!  They touch the lives of many in their community and they will never get the recognition they deserve!

"Everything, Anything, Something, Nothing"

I choose to be your girl, meet all your needs with my one body
I want to be your thrill, the reason you feel a tingling chill
I need to be your world, the axis that you revolve around
I wish to be your light, when it’s dark and around you it draws tight

Because, because, because…
Baby, you are mine, you are my thrill,my spine tingling chill
You are mine, you are my whole world, spinning around you forever
Baby, you are my light when all is dark and I’ve lost my way

150 Years Has Passed Since Lincoln Spoke The Gettysburg Address

So Tuesday, as Google so kindly informed me, was the 150th anniversary of the Gettysburg Address.

I started writing this post on Tuesday morning, I saved it with the intention of finishing it shortly thereafter.  Unfortunately, my laptop crashed and I have been unable to revive it.  I am currently on my back up laptop which loves to shut down frequently when the memory gets overloaded!

I have to say that many presidents in our history have given good speeches but this is my favorite.  Lincoln was a crowd pleaser and must have been quite a charmer.  Of course he obviously had enemies considering he was assassinated but people throw rocks at things that shine, right?

If you haven't taken a peek around Google's Cultural Institute, do yourself a favor and take a look.  The caption of the following photo will take you there!.

Head Scratcher

My sister Rachel & I,
Photo was taken at a friend's wedding in 2006
So this crazy thought popped into my head the other day, which is not odd in any way because that happens all day long...   But this one is about my siblings, which I have more than I can count on my fingers I would have to use my toes too!

Anyways my little brothers were over and we were talking about nieces and nephews and I realized our unusual situation and I decided to share it.  I sat down to write out a post about it and then wasn't sure how to even explain it.  So I slept  on it for a couple of days and now here it is, my random head scratcher.

I don't know how common this type of family situation is but I am sure many others have weird families right?
Siblings reunited - Aaron, Chris & Stacy
My baby brothers, Aaron, Chris & I
Taken August 2013

I was fourteen when I became an Auntie for the first time.  My youngest brother, Aaron, was a year old when my oldest sister, Rachel, gave birth to my niece.  Aaron however, was an Uncle before he was even conceived.

So how is it possible that Aaron was already an Uncle before he was born but I became an Aunt the first time almost a year after he was born?

2nd Grade Looks Good on Little Ninja

Just got Jamison's "Digital Download" School Picture!  We had retakes done because he had his fake "I was told to smile" smile in the first ones but this smile looks genuine and I am very happy with this picture!
2nd grade looks good on him, would you agree?

Quotable Moment

In response to a friend's status about jotting down his ingenious breakthrough ideas, then not being able to read his own handwriting later, I had a "Quotable Moment".

I thought I would share my awesome words of wisdom since they are so few and far between...

Adorableness

Today I give you random adorableness due to my illness.  I have been sick since the evening of Halloween and was so busy finishing the "Jammer Bot 6000" costume leading up to Halloween that I haven't been posting.  For this I am sorry and hopefully this cuteness makes up for it!

Oh and Little Ninja is sick now too so I have been juggling feeling crappy with nursing him back to health too!  :)  Mommy duties call!

 I will get the Jammer Bot post up as soon as I can sit up without feeling nauseous!  Thanks!

Wood 101: Circular Saw

The following tips are helpful for safely and skillfully using a circular saw.  I feel that knowing how to operate your tools, what purposes they have and safety basics are the most important aspect of woodworking   You will gain experience over time but must start with safe practices.  If not, you will gain many scars and possibly lose limbs instead of gaining skill in your woodworking endeavors!

WEAR YOUR SAFETY GLASSES!

Safety goggles might make you “look funny” for a minute but that is WAY than to not being able to look because you blinded yourself while sawing some plywood!!  Eye Protection is a must when working with a circular saw as chips fly and can obscure your vision and/or lodge themselves in your eye.  Ouch!  Also, you never know when gremlins might show up and start throwing things at you!

“Binge on Me”

Lyrics By MalibuNinja

~Verse 1~

At times you
Lift me up high
Make me feel aglow
Most times you
Make me feel beneath
You ~ Lower than low
I wish I could
Reflect it back
Feel what I feel
But I refuse
Can’t be that Evil
It’s My Achilles’ heel

~~CHORUS~~

You crave me  ***   On impulse

Then shove me   ***   Away ~ Repulsed

Binge on me   ***   Like an addict

Then purge me   ***   In a panic

You're oh so   ***   Lascivious

Relish in your   ***   Wickedness

As to your   ***   Intentions

I am complete-   ***   Ly Oblivious

Don't allow Expectations to Ruin You *Wiz-Dumb Pai*

Wiz-dumbpaiawesomeness.jpg

So many people go through life attempting to control every aspect of their day to day lives.  They plan everything in their minds and expect their plans to become reality.  They expect what they consider to be perfection.  Even if they don't expect exact perfection, they do expect close to it.  Through their predictions they are sure that events will go smoothly for them.  Predicting every outcome so all will be right in their world!

These people predict what will happen, how it will happen and how they will react to whatever it is.  Then they spend their day manipulating everything and everyone around them in an attempt to produce their desired outcome.  When whatever it is doesn't turn out exactly how they believed it would... well, they become enraged or depressed.

When you set expectations you are throwing a metaphorical wrench into the engine of your life.

Dear Mankind **WIZ-DUMB PAI**

Wiz-dumbpaiawesomeness.jpg
“True success is achieved when you stop trying to empress others and start believing in yourself” –Johnie Pai

Dear Mankind,

You always want what you can't have. You think you need more then you truly need to sustain life. Apparently you can't tell the difference between needs and wants. Your priorities consist of you and all your needs/wants, nothing of substance and no one of importance. You always want more, more than you already possess, more than all the money in the world could buy. Your gluttonous display of excess is not enough and no matter how many expensive things you collect none of it will ever be enough for you to be satisfied.

Zennie, The Cool Face

Zennie, The Cool Face - Representing Peace, Love, Balance, Unity & Happiness

The Cool Face Design is a collaborative effort between myself and Johnie Pai. Johnie came up with the idea of a face using the yin yang and peace sign as eyes and somehow incorporating a heart and smile.  I made the concept a reality and then painted it on a canvas jacket for him (shown below).

"Being a Loner is Usually Best"

The golden rule has been trashed
All alone I stand in protest
Face it, the world is full of unrest
Wars, Genocide, Hatred manifest
Evil prevails, Goodness suppressed
Malevolence rules, humans digressed
Seems a little hopeless I must confess

~~~~~~~~~CHORUS~~~~~~~~~~~~
Being a loner is usually best
Evil fools you, lies expressed
Intentions you misunderstood
Becoming a victim of theft
All your innocence they took
Being a loner is almost always best
Alone is so much easier to digest
Flashbacks to Vid-Idiot Adolescence
WARNING: Old School NES Electric Guitar May Induce Flashbacks to Vid-Idiot Adolescent Days!
NES console
I grew up playing the original Nintendo Entertainment System, if I remember correctly it debuted the year I turned 6.  When I was allowed to play I would keep playing until my thumbs ached and blistered or I feel asleep sitting up with a controller in my hand. Back then we didn't have the luxury of saving our game and picking it up where we left off later...  So I learned to play video games marathon style, pausing only for bathroom breaks and to eat quicker than I ever did under any other circumstances.
Note Taking Device Attached To Your Arm
POWERCAM_IMG_0000When the Note Taking Device Attached To Your Arm Isn't Good Enough To Meet Your Demands…   Where Do You Turn?
Smile 12 a
Smile 12 a (Photo credit: Wikipedia)
My original, tried and true note taking app is  not really what comes to mind when you hear "app" because it's attached to my arm: I'm talking about my hand!!!  Technically you put a pen in your hand and APPLY it to the paper to write, right?  So it can be called an app...  Anyways...
So, writing by hand is slow and it’s difficult to go back and edit what you have written without completely re-writing it all.  With all the notes I take I would have to carry around a ton of paper or binders or notebooks to be able to access needed notes whenever I required the information.
So instead, I take notes on my computer.  I used to keep notes in Word but those files are large and it’s difficult to keep it all organized in different files and folders and such.  So, I use two note taking applications religiously; one being Microsoft's OneNote and the other being SpringPad, a browser based Notebook.
Memories of Birthdays Past
My buddy Brian's Birthday Reminds Me of Birthdays Past...
So firstly, Happy Birthday Brian!
I can't believe it,  my buddy Brian's girlfriend dumped him, today of all days, His Birthday!!!  Who does that?  Have you ever viciously broken someone's heart on their birthday?
I called Brian to sing him Happy Birthday and he told me what happened, he was devastated and heartbroken, so in an effort to cheer Brian up I created this image for his birthday...
By The Way...  When She realizes her mistake a...
Brian's birthday nightmare makes me think back to the summer I met Brian.  I was 15 or 16 and we met on Alki Beach in West Seattle (Where I lived at the time) and were immediate friends.  We hung almost continually from that point on and I began to date Brian's friend Carlos.
Captain Wiggly J & The Legend of the Eternal Candles...
My little boy just turned 7 and he wanted a pirate themed birthday...  So I made a pirate ship cake, he dressed up as a pirate, his uncles made him pirate swords (heavy ones intended for decoration) I made him lightweight play swords, we created all kinds of cool decorations and last but not least I bought trick candles for his cake...
This video is hilarious...
"Changeling"
CHANGELING
WRITTEN BY STACY M PRICE
~Verse 1~
When my world was dim
You appeared /out of ~nowhere~
Turned my life into, a whirlwind, And I fell
~Helpless~ to your~ snare~
You brought me all that I need
To your ~positivity~ / I ~concede~
Your shining light, Saved me from despair
And was the answer / to all my prayers
~~~~~CHORUS~~~~~

Oh Changeling
How you changed me
The true you I couldn't see
Forever hidden behind a mask
Should have had the sense to ask
Oh Changeling
How was I so blind?
Cause I just laid back
And watched you
Perpetrate your crime

~~Verse 2~~

Your seductive nature has lead
Me astray / while you leech off me
You took so much pride, in consuming mine
And still~ I Remained / Devoted
Was fooled by false emotions
Like you drugged me / with ~magic potion~
You are the evil fruit, of a poison tree
Believe me to be weak / but I disagree

**~~** Repeat Chorus **~~**

~~~Verse 3~~~
You’re a user, but still useless
Just stand back and watch you
Shapeshift your life, No better than a drifter
Chameleon constantly changing
Seize control like a ~Machiavellian~
You cut through me like a knife
Almost ended my young life
You’re a parasite, depleting all reserves
Someday you’ll get punished / just what you deserve
**~~** Repeat Chorus **~~**
~~~~Verse 4~~~~

You call out my name, Beckoning,
I pretend I didn't hear
you will get your day of reckoning
No regrets, refuse to allow any more tears
~Eventually~ you will repay your debts
You are a piece of work, a freak show
Be sure to charge admission fee
Would be the first time you made money honestly

♤♡◇♧☆♤♡◇♧☆♤♡◇♧☆♤♡◇♧☆

Mostly everyone has met a Changeling and later regretted it. A Changeling is a shape-shifter, so to speak, the kind of person who spends their whole lives acting out roles, manipulating and playing games. No one ever sees who a changeling really is inside because of their "masks". They set up elaborate charades all designed to make others bend to their will and give them what they want. They work very hard to make sure they don't have to actually work hard.

This song is about human leeches who alter their appearance, hobbies, values, beliefs and anything else necessary to land them a specific target's affection. They leech all they can from the target, money, cars and so on. They then move in, live off of them and slowly bleed them dry. When there is nothing left to take, they reinvent themselves again and secure the next victim before leaving the current one completely broken and alone. Sociopaths, they don't feel remorse, guilt or shame...

Watch out, if you let them in your life, Changelings will destroy you!

Wood 101: Finger (Box) Joints

Finger joint or box combing
Finger joint or box combing (Photo credit: Wikipedia)

Finger joints are used to join two pieces of wood together  usually at a right angle, see illustration to the right. These joints are called finger joints as they look like interlocking fingers or box joints since they are commonly used when constructing boxes or drawers . Using this type of joint is both functional and decorative. The fingers fit together and are then glued to form a strong joint.

Suffering from chronic back and/or neck pain like I am?

Maybe you could try these moves recommended by Dr. Oz to alleviate some of your agony...

I have been dealing with chronic back pain for as long as I can remember. I was in a car accident at age 8, diagnosed with scoliosis at 15, was born with three vertebrae fused together which left them shorter than one normal vertebrae (birth defect) and on top of all that I have had multiple muscle pulls and other back and neck injuries. I have been in and out of physical therapy my whole life. But that's enough about my chronic pain in the ass....

"I Say What I Mean, I Mean What I Say"

"I say what I mean, I mean what I say"Lyrics By Malibu Ninja
*~*Chorus*~*

NOTE:  This is a work in progress & still needs a ton of editing.
x

When women talk, Most men just block
Understandable when all you hear is bawk bawk bawk

Why listen? She doesn't Say what she means

Expected to decipher And somehow glean

What's going on in her head? Anything?

Why so many words?  To say nothing at all

Spare me your speech It has no meaning

What it is you want?  A big fat brawl?

Quit beating the bush  Get down to biz

Please be honest and Tell it like it is

I say what I mean, I mean what I say
Expect the truth, won't tolerate grey
Won't lie or double speak
Must be some sort of freak
If I fuck up, I fess up
Won't point the finger
Put you through the ringer
Not two faced, I've got but one,
Won't cheat, nor allow reruns
Hate the games they play
Blame him, Blame her...  all day
Can't we just meet halfway?
I say what I mean, I mean what I say
As long as we speak true, we'll be okay

I will never tell you What you want to hear
To get what I want, Why fake tears?
Spin webs? Pump your ego?
If that's what you need
Sorry amigo, I'm not that girl
If you want fake
You’d better just go away

I Don’t Lie, then try to cover it up
Get all caught up until I'm stuck
Guarantee I won't make
You chase your tail
I am so blunt
You may call me a c%*t

I think like a guy, But look like a girl
I am what every man wants, I am real
I love football and can fix almost anything
I am sexy but don't do bling bling
The perfect catch
Don't fish for compliments
Will never ask you
If my butt looks big

My son is a walking, talking, adorable but super annoying commercial parroting advertising robot!!!!

I HATE COMMERCIALS!!!!!!!  I HATE THAT EVERYWHERE YOU LOOK SOMEONE IS TRYING TO SELL YOU SOMETHING!!!!

We have all sold our souls to the bank roll!!!!!

Commercials do not have any influence whatsoever on what I choose to purchase. There are many reasons for this but one of the main ones is that I am not exposed to them as much as the average American.  This is due to the fact that I do not watch TV @ all!  I haven't watched Television in about a year and a half and the only part I miss is Football!

Ever noticed the fountain at Seattle Center that is strangely reminiscent of a flushing toilet?

Jamison, Kale and Madyson checking out
"Encircled Stream" summer of 2010..

Well it is one of an artwork series done using natural elements, designed  to illustrate how amazing our mother earth really is.  This fountain was created by Ned Kahn and it’s  called "Encircled Stream".  Encircled Stream represents how Washington state's landscape was carved from repeated floods over time!

Cool Cab Logo (Font Options) Graphic Design

I am a total amature @ Graphic Design. Mediocre is probably the best way to describe what little graphic design work i have done.  I have created a few different logo designs over the years, a couple of logos for vacation homes I managed, one for a non-profit group I co-founded that helped people conquer their addictions and the logo for my own business..

Mostly I have designed logos for consulting clients as a kind of thrown in service., a good excuse for me to exercise my artist muscle.  I love fonts so designing logos is fun because I get to play with a variety of cool fonts.  Also logos were a good excuse to learn the basics of Photoshop.

Random Project: How TO Create Awesome Duct Tape art!

1-Duct Tape ArtI adore duct tape, I have loved it since I discovered it's ability to stick to almost anything when I was in middle school.  That’s when it became my go-to preferred tape for anything except paper!  I used duct tape to repair a belt once and then decided I would wrap the whole belt with the tape.  It looked awesome, so I thought what else could I do with this?

I used it for all kinds of different things, covering notebooks, decorating my backpack and so many other things!  But, it wasn't until about two years ago that I started using different colors and patterns of duct tape to create 2 dimensional art.

Johnie Pai & Wiz-Dumb Pai

Johnie is an amazing man; he has patience like no other, is a great listener and gives awesome advice when you need it.

He is the best kind of friend to have; a supportive, honest and trustworthy man. He will always make himself available to lend a hand when someone needs help. He is selfless, compassionate and considerate.  If he was about to eat his only sandwich and realized you needed it more than him; no matter how hungry, he would give it to you and go without.

Johnie would give up anything and everything to improve someone else's quality of life. I have personally witnessed him making so many sacrifices, most without a single complaint, so that others can have what they want or need. Even when his efforts are never acknowledged or appreciated; he still gives and gives, never expecting anything in return.  He will suffer endlessly, if it means that you don't have to.

Not only is Johnie genuinely empathetic but he actually feels the exact emotions that people around him are feeling. He absorbs your undesirable feelings (sadness, pain, anger) and suppresses them.  You are free from that emotional burden while in his presence. Just being around him relieves physical pain as well and stress; I relax when he walks into the house.

Quote of the Day:      “Comedy is tragedy plus time.”  --Carol Burnett

Sometimes I wonder how Johnie has become so insightful, so patient. I know that he has been through a lot in his time on this earth, he has made his share of mistakes and had his share of triumph.  Most importantly, he has learned from his experiences.

Johnie will freely admit that he isn't perfect and has made plenty of stupid mistakes as everyone does. "Those who have never made any mistakes have never tried anything new" -Albert Einstein.  Those mistakes are behind him, a lesson learned and he never dwells on what could have been different.

He understands people, animals and nature more than anyone I have ever met. He has this innate ability to "read" people but amazingly he never passes judgment. Within 5 minutes of meeting someone he has a good idea of what they are about and where they are going in life. It doesn't matter if you are the president or a homeless person he will always treat you with respect and kindness and won't pass judgement.

He sees every person is a unique individual, understands that just because they may have chosen a different path in life than most that it doesn't make them good or bad, wrong or right.  Everyone is on their own crazy journey and who are we to judge one another when many of us have been in situations we weren't proud of.

Most times Johnie knows that something is bothering me just by hearing my voice, I don't have to say it.  He sees right through me, even when I am not myself.  Johnie knows what to say to lift my spirits and put me back on track when my train has derailed.

Johnie's intuition is so accurate it is scary. I cannot count how many times he has said something like "I have a feeling…” followed by his “prediction”. I always argue with him and I always have to eat my words. Never has he been wrong. See, if he is unsure of something he won’t say anything at all. So when Johnie does say something it’s because he knows it to be fact, so you better listen.

His outlook on life is so bright. Johnie is a dreamer, head in the clouds but somehow still has one foot firmly planted in reality. Johnie knows that dreams can come true, if you believe in yourself and take the time to follow the path that leads to achieving them. His Philosophies are simple but profound and they have had a positive effect on many lives already.

For months, I have been trying to convince Johnie to allow me to share his thoughts online with people who might benefit from them. Of course, he is very humble and thinks that his musings are not worth sharing.  He says "someone has thought the same things before, it's not like I am the first".

I enjoy reading his "Johnie-isms" and I tell him that many others on Facebook do as well. So why not blog it up? It couldn't hurt. Finally, he agreed and here we are!

I will feature Johnie's Wiz-Dumb right here on Malibu Ninja Über Geek. Eventually I will have a separate “Wiz-Dumb Pai” blog up and running, which will be specifically dedicated to sharing Johnie’s Wiz-Dumb! I hope you enjoy his philosophies and musings as much as I do!

When Personal Space is Invaded, Peace of Mind is Desecrated... *Wiz-Dumb Pai*

Your personal space is YOUR own personal business; I believe that is why it's called "personal space".  Personal space should be acknowledged and respected.  I am talking about both the space your body is currently occupying also known as your “Personal Bubble” and the space that is your private area: where your belongings reside, where you sleep and get dressed, for most people this would be their bedroom.

personal spaceThere is the line (don’t pretend you don’t know where the line is), do not cross it.  Most people understand these boundaries and they respect them.  They also expect others to do the same in regards to their personal space.
Yet there are those lovely self-absorbed people that will throw that door open without a thought and waltz right in to your personal space without an invitation.  Then they will act all shocked and surprised when you call them out on their lack of respect for you and your personal space.
