"Keep Looking Up " A Poem for my son

The gift that I am metaphorically illustrating with this digital art is confidence in your own abilities, belief in self and faith to persevere and keep trying. This is the gift I would like to give my son, the brightest star in my sky.

Jamison, if at first you don't succeed... Tye, Tye Again!!!!! (Shoes, that is) I love you more than all the fish in the sea, all the people on land and all the stars in the Sky and all the way to the moon and back too!

A drawing a day keeps the crazy away... Day 1

I finally fixed my "awesome art" tablet that has been broken for almost two years!  It's a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 (the older model that was released in 2012) and it is the most accurate and realistic way I've found to digitally draw or paint.   I felt like I'd list my right arm when it went through a software update and would no longer boot up.   So long story short, to celebrate having my creative outlet back I've decided to draw at least one digital masterpiece a day and post it here on my blog!  I'm calling it "A drawing a day keeps the crazy away" and here is my first drawing.

This was drawn using a Manga illustration app I just discovered that's called Medi bang.  It's a great app so far, has tons of features and best of all, it's free! I'm still learning how to operate it properly as it is a little complicated but so far,  it's awesome.

My Superbowl Tribute to the 12th men all over the world.   This is my original digital art made using Photoshop Touch on my Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1.  The Hawk head logo is owned by Seattle Seahawks and is not original obviously.

My son didn't believe me when I told him that he was born a 12th man.  I finally dug out the proof:

Seahawks Stomp Cake (Superbowl Sunday)

How I made this cake:

I used devil's food cake mix. I applied "Cake Release" to the inside of my Pyrex bowl (which makes the cake slide right out of the pan; doesn't matter if its plastic, meal or glass) prior to adding the batter and baked it until a toothpick came out clean. I then placed the bowl on a wire rack to allow it cool, then flipped the cake over onto a cookie sheet to remove it from the bowl. I used a long, thin, forever sharp knife to carefully cut what would become the bottom of the cake so it would sit flat, if you skip this step and the cake sits unevenly it may tear while carving or icing it! I then flipped it over back onto the cookie sheet and froze it for a couple of hours, I carved the football shape but it took a while as the cake would get too warm and I would have to put it back in the freezer to firm it up and then continue where i left off. Lastly I iced it, the Seahawk could have been better but it was done freehand and I was tired... But I did use a little glitter icing! :)

After the Hawks won the championship, I didn't have the heart to cut into this beauty... :) Good thing I brought a "second string" cake and made a last minute substitution!!! Otherwise I may have mauled by the kids wanting cake! Not sure how long I will hang onto this cake but for now it's in the freezer. I am thinking maybe I will save it for the next Seahawks Superbowl game!

Ever noticed the fountain at Seattle Center that is strangely reminiscent of a flushing toilet?

"Encircled Stream" summer of 2010..

Well it is one of an artwork series done using natural elements, designed  to illustrate how amazing our mother earth really is.  This fountain was created by Ned Kahn and it’s  called "Encircled Stream".  Encircled Stream represents how Washington state's landscape was carved from repeated floods over time!

Cool Cab Logo (Font Options) Graphic Design

I am a total amature @ Graphic Design. Mediocre is probably the best way to describe what little graphic design work i have done.  I have created a few different logo designs over the years, a couple of logos for vacation homes I managed, one for a non-profit group I co-founded that helped people conquer their addictions and the logo for my own business..

Mostly I have designed logos for consulting clients as a kind of thrown in service., a good excuse for me to exercise my artist muscle.  I love fonts so designing logos is fun because I get to play with a variety of cool fonts.  Also logos were a good excuse to learn the basics of Photoshop.

Random Project: How TO Create Awesome Duct Tape art!

I adore duct tape, I have loved it since I discovered it's ability to stick to almost anything when I was in middle school.  That’s when it became my go-to preferred tape for anything except paper!  I used duct tape to repair a belt once and then decided I would wrap the whole belt with the tape.  It looked awesome, so I thought what else could I do with this?

I used it for all kinds of different things, covering notebooks, decorating my backpack and so many other things!  But, it wasn't until about two years ago that I started using different colors and patterns of duct tape to create 2 dimensional art. 

Feeling Blue @ The Needle

“Feeling Blue @ The Needle” 
is a painting of the Space Needle in Seattle Center as seen from the base of it looking (almost) straight up.
Although I still don't understand why Seattle, the suicide and heroin capital of the US has a big fat needle as their most beloved and widely recognizable land mark., but I may never get that one.
This particular painting was done with a variety of paints including oils, dimensional paints, acrylics, latex and glitter was applied to create a rain effect.

Watch out blogging world, Malibu Ninja has arrived...

 I have thought about starting a blog for a while but didn't really feel I had anything to write about. Well, I shouldn't say that. I have plenty to write about and I do write often. A better way to say it would be I didn't think I had anything that I wanted to share with the world and in turn anything that others would want to read.

However, I have been bouncing around various blogs lately getting some ideas for different projects I want to do and realized that a lot of these blog authors and I have a ton in common. They are crafty, creative people who have knowledge to share about building furniture, creating wall art, decorating a child's room and so much more.

Many stay at home moms have found ways to use a blog to make money or get free products and services or just to share their unique creative style with the world. I have discovered many inspiring people (mostly women) blog hopping and I have them listed in a widget on the sidebar to the right.
